The one and a half hour sessions are informal, relaxed and good fun, providing an ideal ambience for having a go at speaking Spanish whilst in a supportive group. The lessons are a good mix of conversation practice, reading and translation, with a focus on specific points of grammar and vocabulary. Mely uses a mix of teaching methods including reading set texts, comprehension exercises, use of pictures for conversation practice, and keeping diaries for writing practice. This means that the class never becomes tedious and ensures that we build the confidence to put into practice what we learn. Mely also happily switches between the Spanish of Spain and that of Latin America, pointing out differences in pronunciation and colloquialisms. This is particularly helpful for people, like myself, who have learned some Spanish and travel to South America. Mely also organises out-of-class activities such as ‘walk and talk’, and visits to Spain for those who are interested. I would be very happy to recommend Mely’s classes to students of any level”. JS
